I'd say yes. I have been off for almost 5 months dealing with heart failure. I'm cleared to go back to work, and my company wanted to see my ejection fraction and stress test results. The doctor they use for DOT physicals wanted to see the same paperwork before they'd even see me. So if you have an underlying condition, I think you'd be better to disclose it.

No. You're asked to 'self certify'.
They ask you questions on a form, "do you take medications for high blood pressure?".
You're supposed to answer honestly, but if you did, you'd be one of the few.
But, no. They don't dial up your current doctor and ask them questions. Frankly, that's not even part of the form.

as a general rule they do not have access to your records, by law.

as stated above they may ask if a condition needs clarification.

if you disclose a condition, that is.

Wargames, Bean Jr. and tscottme Thank this.

No. They know what you put on the form AND MAYBE what you/Dr entered during previous DOT exams.

Right, that's for DOT exams, not private physicians.

    It depends.

If you get an examiner who sees flags, they have the right to contact the treating PCP for the problem. IF YOU LIE and you get caught, you won't get a physical and you may have to provide more than just the usual "Here is my doc's name and number"
