Here in the States -- KAG wants at least 12 months experience, & a clean record.

Ditto for any other sane fuel hauling fleet.

Little bit of an update. Finished CDL school, took drive test and passed. Already had tanker, took doubles/triples when I picked up my CDL. I then did ELDT Hazmat online and took knowledge test at DMV, now waiting on TSA for my background.

Saia had been into my school. I inquired with them and had an interview the next day, went well. A couple days later the recruiter text me saying they want to go forward with my application and will send me info for my background. That was the end of last week. I text for an update yesterday and she replied they are waiting for a position to open at that terminal then we can do background check. Hmm, I thought they were hiring and not just accepting applications.

Have another interview with a food service company on Wednesday, I know they are actively hiring.

Do you know anything about the time/labor requirements Sysco demands from their drivers? I am not one to shy away from extra work…but I have heard guys complain about how hard they are worked at Sysco. Is the higher pay worth the hours of unloading/inventory management because I live in Louisville where they are headquartered? TIA

From what I remember about Sysco. You load your truck in the morning, do your route and head in. Usually pallet jack or hand cart the product off. The drivers that I knew worked hard for their $$. You might want to consider Krogger. There was a fellow on here not so long ago who said he got hired right out of school which is pretty cool for a new driver.

The Sysco location I worked for pre-loaded all the trucks. Drivers didn't do any loading.

It is very physical labor as mentioned though. You could tell all the old timers by the amount of knee and elbow braces they wore. Loaded hand trucks down a ramp is no joke.
