Easy money, and yes, I'm aware of chain chafing by not using something between them. Maybe next time  I do like using the little pieces of wood with ratchet binders on this load that way I'm not scratching the steel ( probably wouldn't matter ) but saves my fingers to from trying to hold while I'm tighten it. Sure would be nice to load Bobcats again if the competition would GTFO town... @cke :p

New part time job…although he’s keeping me pretty busy. This guy reached out to me last summer, said he had a new truck ordered and wanted to put me in his old one. Took forever to get the new one but it finally happened the end of March. I just told the precast guys the other day I’m probably not gonna be available for a while…

You're not alone. I seldom used any edge protection with slab steel, as it didn't seem to make much sense when you have to cross the chains over each other as it is so there's going to be some steel on steel chafing anyway. The wood blocking is something I hadn't thought about before though, so thanks for that idea. :)

I also don’t do chain edge protection on loads like that. Usually the flat steel I haul is much thinner and I can bend it with straps so didn’t bother chaining.

Crappy picture but I always put the block under one of the hooks. That way the binder isn’t rubbing the block. Just an idea. 9397D59F-5B0E-4269-8E53-193441AEB24C.jpeg

Another easy load, didn’t pay all that well, but the final drop was 5 miles from the house where I’ll be for the next week and a half.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend everyone:)
