Man I been debating whether or not I want to pull it out. I’m leaning more and more to pulling it.

    2 things
#1 You did get the 2 year extend warranty right..
#2 the model you have doesn't have the rubber covers on the switches... it is subject to rain..

Take a plastic bag (pilot bag) cut it in 1/2 then duct tape it across the top above the control panel then down both sides about 1/2 way down out side the control panel.... leave it lose enough so you can still turn to the choke and hit the start switch... the model before and after have rubber covers on all the switches....

After break-in it should run your ac for 12ish hrs

Never start it or turn it off in ECO mode, it's hard on it. Make sure you turn off the ac before you turn off the generator.

Always turn off the ac before you turn off the generator, if not when you start the generator it will surge hard enough to stall it... same if you run it out of fuel... just unplug the cord at the generator before you start it THEN plug it back in after it starts...

If the outside temp is going to low enough over night or you don't need it to work that hard flip the ECO on. The generator will idle down, this is enough to run the fan only and when it need more power to us the ac it will auto idle up... this will give you up to 15hrs of run time per tank...

As to draining it. Put something under the front 1"-1 1/2 high, this will tilt it back. Mine has 2 drain plugs on the back. I took clear rubber hose hook to the top added a T fitting and hook to the bottom then ran it just long enough to hang out the bottom if the drivers door... no water on the floor ever.

I've been using the system fir 3 years

This is my setup. 4 straps hold the generator in place, 2 cable locks also from harbor freight. Note this is the newest model when the rubber covers on the switches and the oil check and pull start on the same side 20230524_200652.jpg 20230524_155945.jpg 20230524_155915.jpg 20230524_155902.jpg 20230524_155845.jpg

Will the rain affect the Generator?

On yours yes... that's why I said how to protect the control panel... the ones with the rubber covers on the switches rain doesn't affect them..

If you do what I said it will run in the rain with no problems...

if you zoom on my pic that shows the control panel you will see the rubber covers on the start switch and on the circuit breakers.. yours doesn't have that and is why you need to protect the panel... the model before yours did... and the newest model has it again.... the newest model also moved the oil check door to the same side as the pull start

Ya.. it all depends on how fast that store go thru inventory when they will get the newest model..

Upside is it's ez to to cover the panel to keep rain off it and if it does go bad as Long as you got the extended warranty they'll replace it in under 1hr... just make sure to get the extended warranty again on the replacement....

Not saying it's right or wrong to do this BUT I know people that take it back every 18 or so months saying something is wrong (harbor freight doesn't check them when you return saying I'd doesn't work) and get a new one under the old warranty and pay the $149 for the extended warranty on the new one....

I have my 3,500 mounted on my catwalk but as a backup I have a 2,000 in my outside storage box... it will run everything I need but to use the mirco I need to turn off the ac. It's also pull start not electronic start, has a smaller fuel tank so it'll only run the ac for 8ish hr. Takes about 10min to pull it out set it up the swap the power cords over... I DON'T IDLE MY TRUCK...

I also added a 2/8 Amp batter charger that plugs into a strip plug in the truck to keep the batteries charged when I'm taking a 34

I may have seen one of you guys out on the road this past week. I remember noticing the HF 3500 genset strapped to the catwalk but didn't pay attention to the truck or what kind of trailer was on it LOL.

Greenie still in CDL School here…..

Do most companies not want you to idle the truck when on your break? Or does it effect your take Home pay if you do?
