I'm curious. The lower hp the better fuel economy. More hp more power at expense of hp? I thought this might be true but was not sure. Is less hp usually more mpg?

Doubt its only has 500k miles on it. Odometer has rolled over at least twice by now.
The Series 60 is a million mile engine and was rebuilt 6 years ago, well before 500k miles.
It simply does not compute.
Not saying its not a good truck, just saying do your due diligence. Miles are somewhat irrelevant if its been looked after.ducnut and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I agree. But apparently it may have been rebuilt by detroit because of a recall or maybe a broken crankshaft or something? Not sure but looking into it.
Other weird thing is I just called freightliner and it's vin is a 1999 fld120 not a 2000 fld132 as listed. I guess the 120 vs 132 is the inches from rear of sleeper to the front axle. Is there other differences?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Ok so the truck does not have the original motor in it. So therefore miles is not able to be known for truck. The ecm will give me miles for this remanufactured engine but that's it.

To only have 500k miles on it in 23, possibly 24 years means its averaged only about 21,000 miles a year. Possible in some applications but is far from the norm when you consider most OTR trucks see 20k miles in 2 months or less.

The engine currently in it is not the original it is a remanufactured low NOx 430/500hp 12.7L. Sales man claims the ecm matches the odometer he said the rcm is 507k miles. Do ecms even report in miles? I thought they were in hours. If he's not full of #### that means the remanufactured engine already has 507k miles and they reset the odometer in 2017. I kinda assume he's full of #### and I will need to plug in ecm to find out how many hours are truly on the engine. Any thoughts?Rideandrepair Thanks this.
