Or is it one or the other? Or depend on the company? Thanks for any help.

It varies by company policy. Many trucking companies have specifics about the passenger and the pet. Some trucking companies only allow a blood relative or spouse and sometimes there is an age-limit for children or they are only allowed during summer months.

Some trucking companies have a max weight limit for pets, and some do not. The only answer that matters is the policy at the ONE trucking company that you work work for. You are NOT going to get your company to change their policy as that poicy is usually dictated by their insurance company. You don't work for the average trucking company, you work for one trucking company. Their policy rules.

I've worked for companies with 20 lb, 25 lb, 50 lb limits on pets.

Few chemical tank companies allow either one. Many chemical plants would make you leave them both outside of their property.
