It’s the positive that needs to be disconnected to reset, but of course negative needs to be off first. Also need to try to remove whatever is left by hitting the brakes couple times. But it may not help in your case regardless. Sounds like calibration issue or new thing is faulty too.

Negative cable disconnects the electrical system completely so why is it so critical to disconnect the positive? Everything will power down the exact same with the negative removed.

Not critiquing, just trying to follow along.

One note here. If your loaded id still be skitchy as hell about caging all 4. Ive done it empty to limp it to the nearest shop but fully loaded you either crawl or you just dont. Even empty you would be shocked just how much braking power you lose. You actully have less empty with 4 missing then full will all working from my experince.
