    That’s one of the best things about this company in my opinion. The fact that Indian River doesn’t micromanage is up there in the same importance as pay, equipment, miles, etc. I know every driver has their own priorities and deal breakers, but for me - the freedom and being trusted to make responsible decisions with the truck is what causes me to settle in and view a company as “home.”

    Probably a noob question.... as it wasn't an option at my previous company.

    So they state we can make purchases at the truck stops. I've seen the option when starting to fuel asking if I'd like addition products. At that point do you go inside get say wiper blades go-to the fuel desk counter and the card is still open and you complete the transaction there? Or how does it work?

    Fuel tank capacity or it varies by tractor? (Last company was 80 passenger, 90 drivers)...
    They pay to replace mudflaps? They provide extra mudflaps, washers, bolt for a quick swap at the Mechanic shops? Strictly all Pete's?
    You have an in house app with macros, paperwork submission, trailer damage photos or all communication is done via peopenet or qualcomm?

    Reimbursement on any of the above at a truck stop as well as fluids. I'm waiting to get a response as being able to use the fuel card for them up front.
    Transflow for submitting paperwork or photos. We use macros in the Qualcomm, but most communication is done via text or calling your driver manager. The Qualcomm rarely goes off. As others have mentioned your generally left alone to do your job.

    You can do it two ways.

    1.) When you start the fuel pump and type in your information press “yes” when it asks if you want additional products. After you fuel, go inside and grab your washer fluid, anti-gel treatment, etc. and tell the cashier you’re adding it to the fuel purchase on pump number XYZ (whichever one you were at).

    2.) Write down your mileage, walk inside, get what you need, and tell the cashier you’re putting it on the company fuel card. They will ask for the same information the fuel pump would’ve required. You will swipe the card right there at the register.

    Option number two is obviously for when you need something without needing fuel. I’m not sure what the limits are because I rarely buy anything other than fuel. In the Winter, I get a bottle of Power Service each time I fuel up if it’s cold enough outside. Other than that, I just buy a jug of washer fluid once in a while. My truck doesn’t burn oil or have any leaks, and I try to top off my washer fluid at the terminals.

    I agree with what Nashville replied. I’ve never carried extra mudflaps or the hardware for them. If you have anything wrong with your truck or trailer they like us to take a photo of it and email it to the breakdown department with the tank number or your truck number in the subject line (whichever one has the issue). If they haven’t called you within five or ten minutes, you can follow the email up with a call to them. They will look up your location and instruct you where to go to have the problem fixed. I’ve never had to pay anything to a service truck or service shop. IRT handles everything.

    I scan my paperwork in with the Transflo app on my phone.

    Regarding the Qualcomm:

    Arrived at Shipper
    Loaded Call
    Arrival at Consignee
    Empty Call

    You can also send a free form message and whoever pulls up your truck number will be able to see it. If it’s something important or time sensitive that I need to communicate about right away, I call the office. A lot of the dispatchers are text friendly, too, so you can communicate that way also.

    We do have an in-house app where you can view your payroll, messages sent to the Qualcomm (handy for when you’re at home or away from the truck), and things like that.

    Not really, not since getting a transponder for the US customs border crossing fee which was $13ish whenever they made me pay it. EZ pass doesn't work up there so if I have a toll to pay I put it on my card and get reimbursed, but that doesn't happen very often.

    As far a truck stuff, I change my own mudflaps so occasionally have to buy a new one if I don't have a ripped off old one I can reuse. Of course there is the odd washer fluid and coolant etc if I run out far from a terminal.

    Almost all Peterbilt 579 midroof, but I have seen a couple International Prostars. I don't know the story behind those. They have Jerome ID signage on them rather than the usual Winter Haven or Cordele. They also have APUs which is something I wish all the trucks had.

    The shop provides a box of spare stuff, huge selection of lights, gladhand seals etc. I usually change my own burnt out lights as all but the rear clearance lights are easy to reach, but even those can be done if you get creative.

    No one told me I was expected to change them, but I rather DIY than sit around at truck stop or company shop waiting for someone else to do it.
