That all depends on how fast the VW was running. If the VW was running only 5-10 mph less than the truck, then the closing speed is only 5-10 mph. The fact the van was moving and the wheels were spinning would make the impact less severe than if the the van were stopped and the truck was moving 5-10 mph because there's no starting friction needed to be overcome.

How could someone that drives for a living not see that VW bus going down the road. That is one of the most unique looking vehicles I have ever seen.

Sometimes custom built stuff like that tends to have wiring issues. It may not have had proper taillights on? Old Phone company conversions, where the p/u bed is removed and replaced with tool boxes and cabinets along both sides, were notorious for the taillights coming unplugged bouncing down the road.Jumpman Thanks this.
