Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Has anyone else found it comical that we got a half dozen QC messages and emails on the app about the food being served at all the terminals? And the menu for each one? Me personally, I haven’t been at one the last 5 years. The last one I was at in Richmond, I was embarrassed. I saw drivers show up with Tupperware to take what ever leftovers they could. I mean, one driver filled up his Tupperware with leftover baked beans. How much baked beans can one driver eat? Another took a package of hotdog rolls. The whole thing looked like feeding time at the zoo. I did make yet the same suggestion today, as I have the last 5 years I’ve been out working, instead missing a lunch, that can only be described as a food bank for the homeless, let those drivers on the road get a lunch and send in the receipt to get reimbursed. I got the same response today as I’ve got the last 5 years, dead silence.

 

Jeez, my old produce days reared its ugly head and showed up in my life again. Took a load of apples and pears from Yakima down to Oxnard, delivered that this morning, then got bounced up to Santa Maria for a straight load of berries going to New Albany MS. Actually, going to the West Memphis yard Monday afternoon, then I’m hooking one for Jacksonville that I’ll drop Tuesday and be back home Tuesday evening. Right now it’s time for bed here at the Loves in Tehachapi.

That happened a couple of years ago off Rte 17 up by Binghamton. Following the GPS and got clobbered by a train. The printers and ink didn’t make it. Two days later he was unemployed. He was out of the truck when all the excitement took place.
