    Like if you are renting a piece of equipment. Like some monster indigenous excavator, and need a 4K pound hammer for it, cause you're planning on fixing someone's watch, the DUDE at the equipment store is going to ask if you want JD controls or anti-christ controls.

    Doesn't matter who the manufacturer is.

    People who talk about Cat controls vs JD controls are talking track hoe controls. Also know as ISO or SAE controls. Most modern machines have a pattern changer valve. So you can run whatever pattern you are comfortable with. But I’m sure you know all this.
