Hey guys, I’m just on here trying to find a good radio everybody would recommend I am an OTR driver. I mainly drive from east to west coast usually in the central part of the country. So I’m looking for some good recommendations on a radio for that. Something probably between $2-300. I’m thinking.
What’s a good radio to get?

If you want a good buddy big-time trucker recommendation, well you're **** out of luck.Oxbow and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
I already have the stock cobra ltd29 chrome and a 6ft skipshooter. I feel it could be better though ♂️ don’t really know cause I don’t know #### about this stuff. I wanna get rid of having to hear the squelch in order to hear the ppl real close to me

Did you get your bonding strips and put them on?
The radio is 35% of the system when it comes to performance, the antenna and coax make up the difference and is the most important part.
I am not yanking your chain when I make suggestions, several of us have told you what to do and how to do it, and if you have done this, and you still have problems, then the radio is the next step.
The 29 is a good radio, it has better capabilities than much of the junk crap that people swear by with all the bells and whistles.
The key is to seek out to use a good tech, not a truck stop good buddy moron with a golden screwdriver. The peak and tune crap screws up more radios, so a factory alignment is really important.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Where would I go to get a factory alignment? I had my radio tuned at JB‘s radio shop in Florence South Carolina. And no I haven’t done nothing about the Bonding yet. I guess next time I have Hometime. I’ll call them back up and ask if they can do that. That’s also who I had install my antenna which they should’ve put some PVC piping on it or something because you know it just sways around in the wind and I’m pretty sure that also affects my range.

HHMmmmmm...pvc piping on a cb antenna.....
i'd say you're on your way to fandom........ -
I don’t know what that means, but that’s just what I read online so ♂️ Like I said, I’m looking for advice if you guys wanna help

Are you wanting a regular 40 channel CB or an Export ?
The new President Walker III @ under $200 is a good FCC type accepted CB. Not hacked up and new technology with old school controls. A small 2 transistor HG 454 kicker will match up well "IF" you wanted a little extra. As far as exports the options are as much as you want to spend but the Galaxy 66 V3 is an excellent radio and slightly over $300 shippedBrianjr323 Thanks this. -
I just want to get the most range that I possibly can.

Well then get a HAM radio license and go 2 meters. Radios go up to 80 watts factory and can hit repeaters 100 miles away. You can legally transmit 1500 watts on 2 meters.
CB Is for short range communications. You can literally spend 1000 dollars to gain a mile.
One of the new FM CB's is cool. I've got one but nobody was available to talk FM so I pulled it out and went back to an older one.
