All i know about FT is he has the best sounding station out there and im not on the Kool Aid.. And I'm not comparing him to the processed audio guys but even still IMHO his station still sounds much better than those stations. Besides he cracks me up on air with his antics. However controlling channel 19 DXing is out of order. There are plenty other channels for that. My $0.02

Hee, ya I figured that.Oxbow Thanks this.
-
Ya, he sounds about as good as my 25 year old cobra 25 with a ranger sr198 mic.
-
Not only does he keep his (marbles), --- he helps some of us keep ours.
You really haven't spent much time over in the sandbox
have you?

Over in the sandbox, --- kinda reminds me of back in the day when a group of
Big truck truck drivers would gather 'round the largest table in the restaurant,
or at the counter, discussing various topics that often resulted in some of the
best Trucker Tales imaginable.
Rumor has it that Big Truck truckers never agree on anything. So the political
Forum is pretty close to reality, --- in that regard.
By the way, do y'all know the difference betwixt a Fairy Tale and Trucker Tale?
Well, ---- a Fairy Tale starts out Once upon a time, ---
And a Trucker Tale starts out, y'all ain't gonna believe this, -------
Fact is, the more bazaar the story sounds, the more likely it's true.
That's your opinion, and there are probably others who share it as well. Perhaps y'all "wouldn't be losing much", but why pull the plug for those who appreciate a forum that in no way infringes on y'all's freedom to roam about the website at your leisure?
Get rid of the Politics Forum?!
But why would TTR do that?
TTR is world famous for it's diversity. There's something for everybody here.
From wannabes and rookies to well seasoned Big Truck truckers. And, as an
added bonus, TTR ain't WOKE!
TTR is as close to perfect as it gets. And by far the absolute best Big Truck
related website on this planet.
That's a pretty accurate comparison, --- sometimes.
But not always.
If the stranger announces ROUNDS FOR THE HOUSE, --- I'M BUYING it goes a long
way in alleviating the potential for such an event to escalate beyond what's considered
appropriate for human eyes to be subjected to for extended periods.
You know ----- the password is thickskin, ----- for a reason,
Right?
And oughta be a hint.
Right?
Maybe a disclaimer?

I bet that's why you don't go there too often.
B I N G O!!
Absolutely!
Yeah!
Send it down there.
It'll fit right in.
MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
Maybe true, he may have requested intervention from the CB gods because he has yet earned all of his powers here on earth to squelch the receivers of the non-believers and they obliged him.
This would mean the three Web SDRs I use, the private remote ham radio I have access to, and my own radios, like my 8711 receivers has been desensitized by the CB gods as punishment for not being a believer.Timin770 Thanks this. -
Years ago I bought a pro 510xl from Hard-Drive. He performed his tune on a NIST certified bench, and I gave him the reasonable $700 amount.
He says let's see just how far this radio can hear and transmit, and he sends me to the underground caves in Missouri. I then hear him key up on channel 10 AM band.. Well, he is coming thru clear as can be at 30db, and he can also read my signal at a s9 from my 4 watt fine tune pro 510 in my Volvo using a through the glass cell phone look a like antenna.
What makes it even crazier is that it turns out I never hooked up my coax, and he was still transmitting through a dummy load on his bench. I've been a believer ever since, and cleaner is truly meaner. Click click. -
You must be referring to the "avionics technician" that doesn't work on export radios for a living and wouldn't have a clue how to fix the IMD problem due to mismatched transistors and a non-linear RF section throwing out his two cents on a subject he's clueless about rectifying. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but their opinion is worthless without showing us some real world results. In the real world, it's all about who can achieve the greatest results using the least amount of power. Only once you've gotten to that point, are you qualified to play with amplifiers. Otherwise you're throwing your money away.
-
How do you know he is clueless? We've had this discussion before about the IMD and mismatched transistors, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. From what I can tell he knows a lot about radios so I'm not sure how you can make a statement about him not knowing anything about export radios. Have you asked him? Anyway I liked what he had to say.Timin770 Thanks this.
-
I'm sorry that you disagree with the laws of physics, but I would encourage you to recognize that linearity cannot exist unless transistors in parallel have an identical curve. Unfortunately, this is very expensive to achieve because you have to pay someone to measure the curve of 100 transistors to find five or six with an identical curve. This takes time and people don't work for free. It's cheaper for manufacturers to just slap something together without worrying about the curve of the components.
I'm sure he does know a lot about commercial radio equipment and avionics and that sort of thing. That type of equipment is made to a very high standard. Unfortunately, the subject matter in this forum has no relevance to that expensive equipment.
Why would I waste my time asking someone about something he doesn't specialize in?
It was entertaining to say the least. I'm sure he believes everything he said within the limitations of his expertise. -
I'd trust him way more than somebody in a freakin' trailer lolHigh Stepper Thanks this.
