Nominal charge to cover the labor. You don't like WallyWorld and how they do business? Try a good ol' Jersey grocery warehouse. Five or six hours of sittin' and $300+ later, you'll be wishin' it was one of Wally's DCs!

Yea, I worked for Van Pak for years before they went out/taken over by Hirschbach. I have done those Jersey grocery warehouses and most all of the New England ones and many in between from coast to coast too. It's not that I don't like walmart, I was just wondering why they charged a $50 lumper fee when it is actually their employees unloading their goods!

To Cover Their Cost of labor... That's obvious! But once again... It's Their Product... Their Employees.

I was at a Wal-Mart before they went to the flat $50 lumper fee, and I was reading a memo that was sitting on the desk of one of the workers. Going to the flat $50 fee was the first step in phasing out the drivers paying the fees, and charging them straight to the manufactures. It was a while ago though, so who knows if that is still the plan.

    The 100th post of Sazook!

I have/had NO problem paying Wal-Mart such a LOW amount to unload their product as the money, every penny, of it now goes to the Children's Network! This is a medical help program! Ask at the window and the clerks can explain the program to you! Not a single cent is kept by Wal-mart and I after many years would rather be sitting in the truck reading, posting, sleeping than throwing wood or helping to break down freight!

I've heard that before but until I see the canceled check or something from Children's Miracle Network, I don't believe it!
Lumpers suck! The whole concept of anyone having to pay to have their freight taken off the truck is wrong! It's extortion, plain and simple!

Well, if thats the case... I wouldn't mind paying $75... but like the poster right after this quote from you... I'm a little leery all the money goes to the kids.
