Ridiculous that an ELD limits you like that. Regardless if you're rested or not. Can't tell you how many times it cost me revenue waiting for a couple of hours or 30 minutes when I would have been perfectlysafe and reasonable to roll. Appointment times are set before loads get booked and are more often than not, not negotiable. Drivers donate time for free and megas want you on ELD's so what are you going to do? You're going to play by their rules and donate time, lose money.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

All of my loads are spot market loads. In this day and age I book in advance. My last load was 2 drops from MO to CA then to OR. Each drop I was within a few minutes of running out of time. My pick up for the next load from OR to TX I had to do a 7/3 so that I could pick that load up. Now I have ran almost all of my hours out. I can drive a full day tomorrow and will run as close as I can and then will have to run the rest at midnight to make the delivery when I get my hours back on recaps.
I hardly ever do short runs anymore since the ones I do are multi drops and still pays pretty decent in this market.
EDIT: Opps that 7/3 was from leaving CA to OR.Last edited: Jul 16, 2023

Sorry man I just find it difficult to believe. Spot loads don't mesh very well. I pre-booked a lot of freight and in a down market, lots of multi drops too, it's the only way I could get a decent rate. Still, trying to match pickup times on a reload with delivery times on an the previous multi drop load, very difficult to find that perfect match. Much easier if you don't gaf what direction you go but still not always going to work out. Multi-drops and the unknown of wasted time involved with that only makes it even more unpredictable. I did a lot of multiple drop loads myself. They don't always go as smooth as we'd like to hope.

Now I was on a different kind of multi drop load this trip and planned according and almost did not make the pick on time. And to be honest had to cheat just a little moving in the yard so I did not trip the ELD so I could get my 10 in at the receiver since they ruined my chance of even doing a 7/3 split. I was at that place for 6 hours getting unloaded so had ti finish my 10 that way to leave on time to get to pick up that was a little ways away. Not my best work on scheduling but normally I am spot on.
Also I check all the information I can on a load before booking the second load out. Most places are spot on when It comes to reviews if you really pay attention to what is going on. I do not do many loads to DC's anymore and that last load was to two and this load is also one. First DC's I have done in a while to be honest.Constant Learner, Truckermania and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
The massive benefit of e log being adopted was the destruction of comraderie amongst truckers.
This may have been the primary reason as well when you peel the bark off, if we could see inside the think tanks at places like the CIA.
Now more than ever it's every man for himself. Everyone in a hurry cause their clock is running.
You tend not to make such good decisions when you're in a hurry. You don't think so much, but follow your pre-programming.
It's an absolutely sinister thing, which is why the megas pushed it through.
The nutbags all want the very people to lead, that do the most to put it in their ###. They will never get it. They have Playstation or some nasty ho for distraction.TheLoadOut, fordconvert, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -
Scheduling sucks sometimes. I had more scheduling frustrations with my former customer (lost lane) than I did with spot market. Currently I got an extra travel day my current load. Sucks. …But at least I’m at Walcott polishing fuel tanks.
