I am very curious about these permits. I have talked to ABC in California twice and they keep assuring me that I am not required to have ANY permits to transport alcohol. The last ABC representative i spoke to said it is the requirement of the shipper and the receiver to have the necessary permits. If this is bad info... lol.. which i guess i would not be surprised... I'd like to know.

So I'm curious to know if you were able to get a definitive answer to this question. I am looking to haul beer from Colorado into California. Ive seen on several website that California requires some sort of permit to haul into the state. But, I'm getting a lot of mixed answers.

I was just curious. How much is the fine to the driver if you decided to run that 20 miles across West Virginia from Virginia to Pennsylvania without a permit and you just happened to get caught? Picked up at that Miller brewery in Elkton, VA going to Pittsburgh but didn't have the ORIGINAL permit(photocopies sent by FAX not allowed).
Siinman Thanks this. -
No, I never did find a permit requirement anyplace. I hauled many loads of beer and wine to and from Colorado and California, and never once was there a mention of a permit requirement. If there was such a requirement, I imagine that the shipper would have to check to make sure that the carrier had required permits before allowing them to haul a load, and I've never been asked to produce anything.Siinman Thanks this.
