Where do you find this general rule? Now l haven’t been to every military base and there could be ones that can’t store a firearm arm if so they will turn you away never heard anyone going to jail for a legal firearm where did you get that from?it becomes illegal when you fail to announce a firearm and they find it

Haha….naw I’m not gonna stroll up and be like hey can you hold this!!
Honestly unless they have a big sign saying “Declare your weapons here” I’m not saying ####. And then I’d probably be very very skeptical. -
If I was you I would do what I did if I didn’t know call the base b4 pu and ask.Carrying a firearm arm or attempting to on every military base is illegal.lvebeen on many bases in the south from NC to Texas always declared it the entry they hold it there and pu coming out never meet one guard who was surprised by itShortBusKid, Phoenix Heavy Haul and tscottme Thank this.

Base commander, in accordance with DoD policy, and state/local laws determine what the firearms policy will be at each base. Don't bet your freedom or money that your assumptions apply to each base commander, are familiar with current DoD guidelines, and are consistant from coast to coast just because you, your dad or grandfather fought in a war.
It's not controversial to recommend getting accurate info about a topic from people who have a full-time interest in tracking that one topic. I swear some truck drivers wouldn't leave a burning building unless some other truck driver showed them what a burned truck looks like. The NRA Inst for Legal Affairs, Gun Owners of America, US Gun Laws, and other gun sources track this far better than random truck drivers. It's like truck drivers know more about driving than lawyers or gun people, only reversed. Gun law people know more about gun laws than truck drivers.RockinChair Thanks this. -
What you’re complaining about others doing is exactly what you’re doing pretending to be a lawyer with obviously no information.Your post here about base commanders is for military personnel. Now every base could be different I’ve never been to one that didn’t store my firearm at the gate you pretending you will go to jail is ridiculous scare tactic with you having no knowledge of.There’s is nothing illegal about carrying a firearm on a truck or declaring one on a military base.

I'm issuing a warning to not assume the conditions that applied in 1982 when Skeeter went to Camp Golly apply in CA, NY, NJ, IL today and to seek expert guidance. Following my advice won't get you in trouble. Just assuming nothing has changed or that every truck driver carries a gun into every port or military base, even though there are hardly any reports on the biggest truck driving forum is not safe. I look stuff up BECAUSE I don't already know them. Others never research BECAUSE there is either nothingbto know or they already know everything. Trucking is one of the few jobs I've ever worked where suggesting we find out an answer often leads to an argument.TB John and Old_n_gray Thank this.

Can confirm.
On the way in it took about an hour for them to search the truck and run a background check on me. Thank God they had a "put anything you don't want us to see in here" box inside the security office. On the way back out it took about 30 minutes for them to search the truck again, despite the fact that there had been at least 6 pairs of eyes and multiple cameras on the truck the entire time.tscottme and Old_n_gray Thank this. -
Nuke plants are tough, even after a transfomer fire where the inbound empty tanks were supposedly 'pre-cleared' it still took several hours of background check and searching.RockinChair and Old_n_gray Thank this.

A lot of bases won't hold your firearm as others stated. One time I was going to visit the Patton museum at Ft Knox, and right when I pulled in the gate I just remembered that had a Mosin in the trunk that I had bought at Knob Creek. I told them and they just told me to turn around politely. I'm guessing it would have been different if I didn't speak up and they found it.
tscottme Thanks this.
