    Why?
    Pay?
    Benefits?
    Time at home?
    Miles?
    etc...

I am looking for a regional or dedicated route with frequent time at home.

If you want a company/s that will have you in that area a lot... "Or a least they used to", check out Hirschbach. I know they have a lot of miles, ok pay, and did a lot running out of the Hormel in Austin, MN as well as Tyson processing plants and DC's in surrounding and nearby states. To the same tune, You may also want to check into Lawrence Transportation out of Rochester, MN. (We Leased our trucks from Lawrence) Both do/did a lot upper of Midwest to east and some Midwest to southern dedicated runs and are capable of keeping you in the twin cities area on a regular basis. I worked for Hirschbach's sister company Van Pak for several years... years ago, and this was how it was then. I'm not totally sure how they run now , but I don't see them changing to much, because this was their bread winning stomping grounds at the time.. and I am sure it still is. Both are not huge companies and I'm sure there are still some family oriented type of feelings in place when working for them.

    [EDIT]
I still associate with old van pak drivers and ex office personnel, and they say Hirschbach has been going through big changes... some good, some bad , and some most likely absurd! Personally, When they took over and started running the show at Van Pak and changed the way we had always did things there, I thought my trucking career was over!... Myself, over 90% of the original Van Pak drivers and most of the office personnel took the option of getting out or were laid off. We had never been forced dispatched among other things these strange new being's were inflicting on us and most everyone called it quits. You personally, may like their policies... We were just set in our ways, I guess.

Thanks for the info. Oddly enough I have a friend that used to wrench for Hirschbach. I'll look into them. Do you have any current details. Thanks for the info.

No, nothing in particular. It was years ago when I was involved with these companies. I'd just google their website, check these forum threads on any info, and if you like what you see, give em a call.

I'm pretty new here, but if I'm not mistaken... I think I seen some threads on Hirschbach here somewhere. Maybe someone here knows, or you can use the search function... or start a thread asking currently employed drivers their opinion about these companies.

    Good Luck.

Squire has a terminal in Mpls. They're the training division of Knight.

Most other companies in MN need experience.

That's what I was going to say. I could name a bunch of good companies that will get him miles and get him home. It would be a waste, because none of them will touch a student. They all need 2 years experience at a bare minimum or only hire O/O.

If he is looking for companies to go to after he gets a few years experience, I can give him a fairly long list. There are a lot of good companies in this part of the country. Whether they will still be good, or even still around, by the time that they would consider hiring him is another story.
