In europe, ever since we have air suspension there is a way to control its height. Until late 80s, early 90s it was pure mechanical valve outside. This scania will have 3 riding heights, top and bottom possition and everything in between.
MAN have electronically controlled air suspension since 1986. This use twice less air during its work as it regulate air smart way. You can combine its features with EBS to regulate pressures on each axle to get shorter braking distance. You can get digital info about individual axle load. Can use it as starting aid to transfer weights between axles...
Just one thing.

 

Our steering wheel holders couldn’t operate something like that……..

We have steering wheel holders as well.

This is easy to use. If you forget to bring it back to ride height after using remote to adjust height, it returns again automatically after you start.
On MB you can use mobile phone to adjust it as well
