It's painfully obvious by the amount of time wasting phone calls and emails from companies that will file your IFTA, UCR, 2290, perform dispatch for you, and get into your pockets, to do things you can and should do yourself but instead just prefer to hold onto the wheel.
Ridiculous TQL offer on a load going 548 miles.

Yeah, in a perfect world $3 a mile and payment on delivery would be the norm. I know it's unrealistic.
I don't really get your pizza delivery guy analogy though. -
Yeah, I understand. But all I'm saying is that it would ELIMINATE a lot of problems IF brokers and carriers got paid immediately upon the execution of their obligation(s). I know that's not the norm in business.

I don't know if you're referring to me, but in case you are...I'm doing just fine. I don't get these people on YouTube crying that they're losing money. I netted over $4k last week running power only. I'm averaging EASILY over $2.60 on all miles. I mean, it's not an awesome number but it's not bread crumbs either. I know most of you do much better, but this isn't a competition. I do all my back-office work, quarterly filings, light mechanical work (thanks to you guys and YouTube), basically EVERYTHING. And YES, I feel overwhelmed sometimes. I've been on the road almost 90 days now.
I'm not tooting my horn, nor do I consider myself special. I know that most of you guys are much more experienced and do all the extracurricular tasks too. But I'm certainly not a pizza delivery guy.Last edited: Aug 7, 2023

I was referring to drivers in general. If I'd been referring to you specifically you would have known it. So far it sounds like you're doing things the right way for staying in business.

$1.64 cpm is beyond ridiculous with 3 different drops!.. They're probably telling the shipper a base rate of $3.20 taking half for themselves. Something is up with those TQL Brokers. The carrier I'm leased too seems to be using them more for freight however theyre calling me the majorith of time on the hour for detaila of where and what time the load appointment will be there. App downloads etc.. they seem to sketchy. If it doesn't pay at least $2.60 I'm not moving my truck or I'm losing money from the current fuel rates, insurance etc.
Siinman Thanks this. -

I appreciate the words.
TheLoadOut, Siinman and REO6205 Thank this. -
Most of the owner operators that I see are just like this. Have no clue if they are making money or not. It is a shame, running their truck like a company man.

In most large situations where that is the strategy the brokerage has a line of credit with the accounts receivable as the collateral at a fixed rate below the quick pay rate they charge carriers. There's always a vig...gekko1323 Thanks this.
