Im still at Heniff but thinking about making a change. Newman Carriers looks interesting and they seem to be hiring around St Louis. I'm toying with the idea of relocating because the housing market where I'm at is trash and I'd be closer to family.

What's wrong with Heniff? Can you relocate -- & stay with them? Where are you located, now?

For starters my terminal no longer has a terminal manager, the tank wash has been idle since February, they took away our vending machines and I could go on. Writing is on the wall and all of us drivers are looking at our options. I could transfer but after this experience I'm not interested in staying with Heniff. Also I peak at the load board periodically and the rates out of Heniff St Louis terminal aren't that great.

Bet you'd be happier with these people:

Wynne Transport Service, Inc. - Liquid Bulk Transportation Carriers

    Why?

Strong driver reviews. More laid back atmosphere.

You can be either a company driver -- or an O/O there.

If my math is correct -- you could work for them either where you are now -- or out in St Louis.

The BBQ out in St Louis is probably better, though. ;)

    They seem busy.

    I'm looking at them, myself.

Late to reply on this sad to Mike moved on. I'm sure it's mostly new faces up there now since I've been there. I left a bit over a year from pedricktown mostly due to the commute on top of driving the truck and do not miss it honestly.

Gordon still running? Hope you can find something good up there.

Yup Gordon is still hanging around doing his thing. He had a health issue around new years that sidelined him a bit but hes back. We are basically a satelite terminal for Springfield now and its definetly an adjustment. I think the terminal is for sale and its really only a matter of time before we get shuttered. What blows my mind is we are actually busy, and we get good rates so its not like we are hemmoraging money.

WOW! So both you guys ended up leaving? where'd you go? Since I left Superior(right before it ALL changed to Heniff, end of 2020), I've been having a good amount of luck in the LTL world and only took about 6 months since I was able to land a schedule run where I'm home everyday! I do miss some of the people that were there. But, have heard a bunch have retired out of High Point or getting ready to. There is one guy, out of Hamlet, that I may run into in the mornings on US52. He does a dedicated run up to Mt. Airy everyday, so If I'm out of the terminal, I go to everynight, on time, I usually run into him and we MAY '#### chat' on the CB for a few. He doesn't know much about High Point although has had to go through there a few times and said it's 'controlled chaos' there. I can see that as since Mac retired it's gotten to be a real 'show' from what all I've heard. Not saying I know for a fact, just hearing is different than actually knowing!

Yeah I ended up moving on... the commute killed me honestly, I made great money with heniff but the new health insurance was a pain for me and my family situation... I also needed a chance while the run I was on mostly paid well doing the same thing day after day 463 miles a day got old for me. Then I'd hop in the car and drive another 39 miles home. It just got to me I didn't want to leave but it was time.

Tried out a local food grade chocolate hauler and loved it there but you didn't make enough. Ended up going to foodliner and have been here for a year now, fairly happy with them overall.

COOL! Glad to see things have worked out. Yeah the insurance(health) was, if I remember correctly when I left, went from $113 a check(for a family) to $160 a check for family(which was crazy back in 2020). When I came to OD the health family plan was $87 a week. It raised starting January to $113 a check for family(so not worried that much about it!). I can understand the 39 miles one way home.OD opened up a new terminal in Kernersville, NC and I hired on in Greensboro, NC while it is only a 4 mile(13 to greensboro and 9 to kernersville) difference for me, I switched to the new terminal to get off of the road and be a 'schedule' line haul guy. I only drive 9 miles to and from work and drive about 490 miles a night(easy 9 hour day TOTAL). However, I do miss the 'open road' and seeing all the things I used to see while out there in system. IF anything happens to me here at OD, I know I'll end up at Heniff and finish out my days there. Right now and for the long term future, it looks bright for me here at OD and do love being home everyday and working(somewhat) a regular job with 6 figures a year. Yes, 6 figures. We get a raise every year and now line haul is close to 80cpm along with being paid for drops/hooks/fuel and if I wait anytime OVER an hour at a terminal/meet I'm paid 30 an hour.
