It’s the same way up here buddy in podunk Kansas. Everyone wants a fortune for anything, and what is somewhat affordable is going to take some work and in an unfavorable school district.

Heck back when I pulled end dump in 2013 I was making 65k a year an home every weekend. At that time I thought that was real good for end dump work. Doin it back in the 90's I was lucky to break 30k a year.

@Professor No-Name unfortunately for me florida offers no real opportunity for end dumps unless you want to run all over the place, which I don’t prefer to do, where I work you’re never more than a day from home and I cover pretty much all of our Florida loads, the pay could be better I agree, but I’m willing to settle for now because there’s nothing else in trucking I’d rather be doing right now.

When I as in Anniston yesterday it was packed, I backed in beside a guy with a 573 area code on the door, my wife is from southern MO so I recognized it, turned out to be a complete retired Beelman setup, truck and trailer, one of those coffin box Petes. The driver was a big fella too, came in from Statesville NC, I have a lot of respect for guys like that running all over in those no frills trucks, literally truck and sleep. Poor dude had his load hang up on him though, I assume the trailer was only dump door compatible and he had on "rerun" which is basically fluff, half the load hit the floor, the other half wasn't along for the ride :) As I was headed out the track-hoe was headed his way so hopefully he made it back to the house at a decent hour.

Yea, I get it. I always really liked doing end dump work. An I am sorta in the same position as you. I am now pulling a hopper bottom cuz I just couldn't stand grocery warehouses anymore. I really love my job an the guy i work for is the best. I could have a better deal on benefits elsewhere but i am pretty darn content with where I am at.

No, I’ve been looking and listening for her when I’ve been up that way, no luck though.

They’re ok, been running up towards Birmingham to try and salvage my weeks, I’ve been seeing some of your compadres down this way on the regular, it’s kind of scary though the lack of end dumps coming in and out of Florida, not looking so hot!
