Fair enough, yea i just did 48×70 for a basic example. I usally tend to stay towards simple broad math for examples. Most peoples eyes seem to glaze over if i get beyond that lol. As towards the OT thing. Also fair though as i said i literally forgot it was a thing.
Why do people say the pay is low?

I think its because people are forgetting that "old school" drivers are comparing the pay they made 30 years ago running 3 logbooks to the pay we make today, running in full compliance with DOT HOS regulations thanks to our e-logs.
So yea, someone running 3 logbooks could have made 100 grand 20 years ago. Today that won't happen because we are in compliance with HOS and that means we only get about 3200 or so (plus or minus) miles a week. One of my driver trainers told me he used to run 3 log books and ran east to west coast and back without stopping for anything more than fuel. Something about taking little white pep pills. He said that was not safe, but he made super good money in those weeks.SoulScream84, LtlAnonymous and Short Fuse EOD Thank this. -
McDonald’s will start you at $19.50 an hour now in many parts of the country. I know a Subway sandwich maker who doubles as the fill-in assistant manager and they pay her $21.50 an hour. This girl all of 22 years old probably couldn’t boil an egg. That’s almost as much as some truck drivers make per hour. The girl I date? She has an apartment in the middle of town. In the middle of Raleigh. She sits in her living room with all her gig apps open. She picks and chooses what order she takes for deliveries. And she also occasionally does rideshare. She averages $32 an hour from her living room. I think truck driver to say we are Over paid perhaps haven’t quite caught up with the current times. But this is also why when you go to Subway and order a foot-long that once upon a time just a few years ago was five dollars is now pushing $20. Lol

RPM, should be what you can deliver to the customer. That’s accounting for your expenses, your income, and keeping your market and competition in mind. It’s not a magical number. Have you ever even bid on a customers lane?!?

The drivers are doing their job. Time for companies to step up and stop treating us like the dregs of society.dwells40, Gearjammin' Penguin, wulfman75 and 3 others Thank this.
