I had surgery and I even reached a settlement. All of which can be proved. But every time I go to try to get a job they see that gap in my resume which was before I became a truck driver, and they say they can’t hire me.
I have told various companies I can provide proof but I would allways get “we are moving forward with other drivers”.
currently considering being a dump truck driver although I have a CDL class A. However am I going to have the same issue? And why is it that warehouse workers who start off working for a company and get their CDL while working for the company can get hired within their company having no experience but someone who didn’t work for the company and also has 0 experience can’t work their because insurance sees them as a risk or they need verified tractor experience?
How to get a job when I have a 2 year employment gap due to injury?

You're applying to the wrong companies.
If your injury and lawsuit was related to workers comp., then that's a problem.
How long have you had a CDL?
Some second chance companies and 1099 companies will hire you if you can pass a DOT physical and drug test.
Where is your location; state & nearest city/town?Fuzzy_Barefoot Thanks this. -
I’m in Harper Woods Michigan. Right next to Detroit it borders it.
What are 1099 companies & how would I know if a company is that or a 2nd chance company?
yeah I could pass those with flying colors never did drugs in my life -
1099 companies don't withhold taxes; the driver must do that and keep records.
2nd chance companies hire drivers with an issue like you have or traffic tickets, criminal record, etc. Some of those companies are ok though, I've worked for a couple of them and did ok.Fuzzy_Barefoot Thanks this. -
Ok great. How would I be able to identify a company as being one of those?
Im really having hopes of being a dump truck driver but don’t know if they have the same regulations and if they are second chance or not. -
Myself and other drivers on here will help you find a job.
Be sure to submit applications before any phone calls; this is important.
Submit the short apps off the trucking company websites, then wait a few days and follow up with a phone call, "I'm checking on my job application."

Was it through a cdl school?Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Some dump truck companies and more forgiving than tractor-trailer companies.
Apply to all of them and see what sticks. -
