Is freight slow right now, really? Hubby is OTR driver and has been doing a lot of sitting lately. He's all about "if the wheels ain't turning, I ain't earning," but keeps getting ###### loads and all he keeps hearing is "freight is slow." Hmmm.

    Thoughts?

depends on the type of freight and part of the country. In my neck fo the woods, we have been dead for awhile, it is finally starting to pickup a little, but even then it's day by day. Monday was 11 hrs, today was barely 8.5 hrs, tomorrow looks like 11.5 hrs. The last three weeks have been good, but it's been rough as well.

there's a lot of variable's with this ?. Where is he, what type of trailer, is he running 48 states. Certain segments of the economy is still slow but if he is dealing with food he should be ok. But trucking there is always periods of slowness sometimes worse then others. Sometimes you just hope that at the end it all works out.

I run flatbeds and I've been so busy the last 6 months....It's been crazy!
I've put 130,000 miles on my truck this year and probably 95% of those miles were loaded.

I don't EVER haul cheap freight.

Well guess I'll find out.Putting my step back on the road.Been dinking around with vans, reefers, and some tankers for last year.I dont haul cheap either but everyone seems to think rates are headed back up.Hopefully the fuel prices will remain halfway stable for a while. You mentioned west coast truck lines on another post.Iworked there for 5 years in the middle seventies. It was a good company till they got into van freight and started pulling doubles.
