I suppose I see what you mean about TSA. I'm hoping we still get our tax returns back on time due to that mishap with the IRS building in Austin. If not it'll be back to working for crumbs for the mean while until I can get everything together for tank and hazmat and look for better work. I've just about had all I can stand of sitting at home all day watching the wall's close in on me. I've done everything that can be done around here and bordom is really starting to set in and one can only stay in guitar practice for so long everyday.
Do you have any info on H&P? -

If you get your hazmat first, the TWIC is not as much. The 132 for the TWIC is without a previous background check. For TWIC you actually have to go there twice. The first time for the application, finger rints, etc, and the 2nd time for the card when it comes in. They have to put in a PIN# in it.

I'm a daddy of a beautiful 6lbs 3oz baby girl! I'm really excited. I'm headed down for the application process tomorrow and spend the next month down time with my new baby girl and start filling out application's and looking around.
I've seen several companies that have moved in the area recently buying up land and moving in. A couple so close I could ride a bicycle to lol. -
2fuzy, what exactly is it that you do in the patch? Is there a lot of labor involved like flat bed or what? I've started peeping around a lot more but really want to know what I am getting myself into. Is it worth it pay and benifit wise because I know OTR isn't any more. Are you running locally to be home every night to every other night or are you gone for a week or so? I had a chat with my old CDL instrutor from Prime and he is leaving them and told him to try the field work because of the money but even though he hasn't done the work he warned me not to do it for many reason's but I want to get away from OTR, make better money and home more often.

As you will be stuck ,broke down, hung up for what ever reason and for the most part the expectation in the patch is that it gets done whatever it takes that might be throwing chains , or 18 hr day.
They patch is not for everyone but I started in it because I had a family to raise and yes for the most part home at the end of your shift the money is good they work can be hard but I doubt that as long as I have a choice that I will ever do anything else but I enjoy the challenge of it all.
I am wondering about the reason the guy from prime gave you for staying away?
It will make you a #### good driver , keep you in shape , put money in your pocket, calasus and scars on your hands and let you see your wife and kids (congrats on the little one)
Those that say stay away probably could just not cut it anyway as it has made many a supertrucker put there tail between there legs but you never know tell you try -
My intructor was just warning me about it because of how dangerous it is. That doesn't bother me either. Hopefully I'll be seeing employment soon. I just gave everything a serious push into over drive so I'm not gonna take any extra time off so I'll go to work as soon as I land something. I would hate like hell to go back OTR but if I have to I will. To me it's not worth the BS pay that companies make you bust your ***** for these day's.
