They still didn’t take all that off the top before they paid you your percentage, which is what another member alluded to.
Question is 25% of load after fuel fair, bad or about normal?

$1500-$3000 per week as a 1099?
Run away, far and fast.JoeyJunk and rollin coal Thank this. -
If the numbers in the ad weren’t confusing enough the op started at 2 then 10 then 11 then back to 5.
What happened to 1,3,4,6,7,8, and 9?JoeyJunk Thanks this. -
Sammons paid AFTER charges.
Fuel was before either party got the split. Fuel came first.
I don't remember how the other stuff was charged to the truck other then showing up on monthly statements. -
Then it sounds like a lot of guys were getting the shaft from them. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence would run away from a deal like that. And Sammons isn’t to bright either if that’s how it was because their revenue would go down if someone was getting terrible fuel mileage.
Edit to add: I can’t wrap my head around why a company would run like this when they have no control over the costs associated with an owner operator’s truck. I’ve never worked anywhere where the split wasn’t made off the top, then add in other pay, then take the deductions.Last edited: Sep 29, 2023

Hmm I think they are trying to say 25% of rate except fsc .....I pay my drivers starting out at 25% on a w2 but within 90 days progress to. 28/30 plan 28% of gross revenue and then a 2 % bonus if there is more then 6000 gross revenue ....on a 1099 that seams light

run forest run .
My neighbor drives a new W-900 company truck ,doing heavy haul oversize . gets paid W-2
Home every weekend .
Health Insurance , 2 weeks paid vacation etc , $550 a week min pay , if they don t have any loads .
he gets paid 20% of the gross to the truck , after permits and pilot cars.
the fuel isn’t a factor at all .
he averages 88 cpm factoring in all miles .loaded and empty . the company won’t crank their trucks for less than $10 a loaded mile . -
Percentage is nice if you work efficiently....I get 30% of gross and my best month is $16,400 after tax.

Old topic, but let me just say this about %, it always works in the bosses favor, much like mileage. My 1st T/T job, dump trailer, the boss told me 27% of the trucking charge. That was all well and good for a while, the boss was a great guy and I overlooked the %, as I had no idea % of what? Well, one day, he mistakenly said, "oh, and pickup a check for the trucking charge",,well, when I got my settlement, it came out to 22%. When I confronted him about it, naturally he denied it, and it was adios shortly after. %, or mileage works in a very few situations, and basically boils down to, the boss doesn't want to pay you for sitting. Most of my jobs were by the hour, and wouldn't consider anything but. Hey, your time is worth something too. The 2 week or keep last check wouldn't fly with me either.

25 percent of the load depends on how much the load pays. It could be good, could be bad. It's a 1099, so I'd immediately look the other way. This ad has too much uncertainty for me. There is nothing that's definite other than its 1099 and that it's 25 percent of the load. You gotta find a company that has definite numbers, not windows of pay between 1500 to 3000 dollars, minimum 2000. Not only that, those numbers are over-inflated.
