Carting Hazmat in particular Petroleum products does come with its draw backs as you have a huge responsibility to drive safely, which is why companies that haul these products do insist on cameras and speed monitoring devices, I hauled fuel for 3 1/2 years, we did earn more because it was considered higher risk freight. Yes you will find because a fuel tanker will have 5 / 6 compartments in the longer trailers and about 3/4 in the shorter tankers so less sloshing about the only time you'll have an issue is if you can't drain the whole compartment out, ideally you need more than about 75 % in a compartment or less than < 25 %. This is where it can get interesting, however if you have a short drive to your next drop off point and you won't be going to fast you should be fine, but you will of course learn all this in your hazmat course. All the best in your fuel hauling career.

Well, I have an appointment to get my TSA stuff done on Friday, then I guess it’s a waiting game to take my test and then wait on the new license to come in the mail. I also have an interview with us foods Friday afternoon, I was gonna just do that until I get a job hauling fuel or with an LTL carrier. Would it look bad if I quit my job, went to USF, then got an offer from fuel or LTL and left USF for one those?

The straight answer is, it depends.
If you have a history of job hopping, it’s not gonna look good.
It’s never good to jump like that in trucking.
But, given that tsa usually comes back pretty quickly if you’re clean ( mine took 48 hours and i had the digital letter in hand) and took my hazmat test same day, it’s not as terrible as some make it out to be.
I suggest getting your TWIC card while you’re at it, even if you aren’t sure you’ll ever need it.
It’s cheaper to get it with the hazmat than it is separately if i remember correctly.
It’s another thing that can and will work on your favor long term.

Yeah, I think it’s like $180 without haz and 86 with. So I plan on doing that. I was thinking tho with my lack of experience I’d end up having to run food service 6-12 months to get a better job wether it’s hauling fuel or LTL or whatever comes my way.

Apply at eagle transport in Tampa. They have a satellite terminal in Orlando.
They hire grads from accredited schools.
Pm me if you care to know more about them. The terminal manager is my old operations manager.

Western dairy out of cabool. Has local regional and otr.no ot on local. They use the ag exemption to not pay ot, but it's something like 25/hr and long days.

It's not difficult. You go take the written exam at the dmv office, pass, then go get finger printed. You have to set an appointment (most of the time, but maybe not always in every location) to have the finger printing done. If you hustle on it, could have the endorsement put on your license and receive it in the mail within thirty days. I got lucky when I got mine, somehow was able to get in quick for the finger printing. It takes all of maybe 5 minutes at the identogo location to have it done though, if you have an appointment.
