So I have a newbie mistake and think my cb was transmitting while I was on the phone in the sleeper.

I was at a company yard with hundreds of trucks nearby. I’m wondering how close you have to be to the cb mic for someone else to hear me. My cb radio is in the normal spot with the mic hanging and it is facing the sleeper where I was sitting and talking. The truck was off. Could everyone hear my conversation from that far away?

You must know the Buford T Justice trick to communicating over the citizens band without actually holding down the button, make sure you grab a Diablo sammich’ and a dr. Pepper on your way out :)

if the mike button is stuck, then yes it would be on transmit and you would not be able to hear anyone else while it is stuck

there is usually a light on the cb panel that will light up when transmitting.
