Oh you're one of those dispatchers.

You can't give us a 20 mile load, have us start our clock with that crap, and then 6 hours later give us a load that has to be picked up RIGHT NOW and get delivered 1000 miles away in 20 hours. Yeah, its great miles, but it would've been perfectly legal to run if you'd given it several hours ago...

 

I was looking into Averitte Express, they have a dedicated dollar general run, they told me I would never be out for more than two weeks, wasn't too sure about that, also I talked to JB Hunt about an family dollar acct, their's sounded better, 5 on 2 off, and the warehouse is alot closer to my home base, how long were you out with werner on that acct? money good? dependable?

I wouldn't suggest it.

I was never on that account. I just helped out. I helped out for 2 weeks. I didnt make much money because a lot of BS was going on, truck was in the shop, and i never actually had a full week of running on one paycheck, so i dont know how much i was making. I was however getting 25 cpm + 10 cpm safety pay + $40 to unload the whole trailer + $15 for dunnage cleanouts/trailer swaps/whatever + $15 per stop

I dont think the pays fair. The potential for injury is very high due to the DCs loading trailers poorly. The potential to screw up your career is high because they have stores that are basically impossible to get into with a 53' trailer, they have 45' and 48' trailers that can fit in a little easier, but they'll send you with a 53' anyway. A lot of drivers tear up trucks or grass and get fired. Most of them didn't get out and look, but it's extremely abusive to the driver to put them in such ridiculously tight spaces and not be a little lenient when stuff gets torn up. Also, at werner, you can have the shop remove the plastic bumper from your truck, which helps protect your job. Looks funny though.

And family dollar would be even more work, for not much more money. Dollar general went out of their way to design rolltainers to make the job easier. There are a lot of hassles with them but they are a lot better than just throwing the freight on the floor.
