Those disc brakes should last a long time, especially with a good engine brake that gets used correct.

I have personally seen some just ride the Johnny bar just to save on the truck brakes. Not sayin for sure in this case, but I know it happens a lot. When only 4 of 10 working hard, they will wear out fast.

Have seen this where the disc brake pads drop out because the retainer piece broke and the pad wears into the rim. One of our customers has had this happen twice on a trailer with the Meritor disc brakes on it. My boss advises the customers not to buy trailers with disc brakes as they are more costly to repair, spend more time to repair and don't stand up in the on/off road applications that they work in.
