    We’re about to obtain our class A CDL , no experience, ages 22 and 21 interested in team driving, and living on the road. We live in a small apartment now, we don’t want to pay rent, and we are ready to put the pedal to the medal. We are hermits, have no kids, family, or animals. It won’t be much of a life change, except we will get paid for it now. We are no stranger to work hours, currently in the oil fields, work 14-17hr days. We are going to have all our endorsements at time of our applications. Wanted to know team companies to work for, looking for $2000+ each a week, might be optimistic, but pay on these forums range very widely for new drivers. Also, would prefer tanker companies so we could transition into cryo (I have heard good things about airgas) with some experience but open to anything. We’d also prefer a super sleeper or any bigger sleeper because we will be living on the road. I’ve seen that you can lease onto companies for that such as high field/panther and reliable carriers with some experience. I’ve also come across DOD and the pay for that, which is attractive, both have clean records, so this is also a route we would be good with setting ourselves up for, for experience. I’ve seen fed ex freight recommended a few times but don’t know, it is hard to find job postings online. Got good advice from these forums but some being 2+ years old and “pm me for info” but don’t know if it’s relevant and keep running into dead ends. I’ve heard good things for couples for Old Dominion as well, but the age requirement for team driver is 22-23. Is this negotiable or for insurance purposes? Can someone explain why some of the ages for companies are so different? We don’t require all of these for a job, we’re willing to make some trade-offs, such as lower pay if it is a super sleeper, etc. like mentioned above. I know this is a lot to unpack, all answers are appreciate both have clean records, so this is also a route we would be good with setting ourselves up for, for experience. Asking to see if what I’m looking for aligns with what people with experience have done. Thanks!

    Where is your location?
    How old are both of you?
    Do you both have endorsements?
    Where is your location; nearest town/city?

    Lots of FedEx freight is moved by contractors, which can run just a few trucks up to dozens or hundreds of trucks. The individual FedEx terminals may be able to help uo get in touch with those contractors. Only some of the FedEx trucks you see pulling FedEx trailers are run by FedEx. It's possible none of the FedEx trucks are operated by FedEx but only by contractors. Your choices vary greatly based on where you live and want to work from. You won't have the same opportunities in Dirt Shirt, TN as you will in Charlotte, NC. There is also the FedEx and FedEx Ground dividing line. One is the Orange and Purple color and the other is Blue and Green, IIRC. I think Old Dominion would be a more stable and predictable job than FedEx, but I could be wrong.

    Ages mentioned in adds are usually legal or insurance requirements that cannot be waived. You will choose what your life will be like for the next year when you pick a company so don't just randomly select one. YOU WILL NOT CHANGE the company. You will fit what they offer or leave.

    I think age requirements have something to do with insurance companies.
    @Ridgeline can explain that.
