When it’s said and done, someone or a bunch of someones may be going to prison.
Lawsuits will be filed, that’s a guarantee but I would expect a prison sentence or two to be handed down!

This is a huge fear of mine come true...my daughter is in band and they travel. Plus ski club and they bus too.....in Ohio winters. I feel so bad for the parents and surviving students...I literally feel this.
Now my mind is consumed with the how and the who.Last edited: Nov 16, 2023
Another Canadian driver, buddyd157, Concorde and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sounds to me like the wreck was the predictable result of typical drivers doing what they typically do.
I think that the only sort of feedback most drivers get consistently is negative reinforcement from aggressive drivers, and that random engagements with cops when someone gets caught taking things too far isn't doing much.
If it were up to me, I'd collect several thousand hours of footage of actual defensive driving (full following distance, collision avoidance), annotate it (mark aggressive maneuvers by other drivers and what is being done to counteract them), highlight cases where it clearly keeps the defensive driver far away from trouble, and make arrangements to have it played continuously at rest areas and truck stops (or anywhere with willing management).Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
that must be new, cuz any Gray Dog i had ever been on, didn't have any...but then, i'm going back to the mid 1980's and being "bussed" to orientation, to Davenport, or Ft. Wayne.Another Canadian driver, mjd4277 and Opus Thank this.

this "should be" taught in CDL school.......wait a minute.........i had to laugh at the actual thought of teaching something in those Mills......Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Oh, they do teach it in CDL school -- right along-side all that other stuff that everybody assures the state (via the quiz administered to get the CDL), their safety mangers, the cops, wreck investigators, lawyers, and whoever else cares to ask for a driver's say-so.
But, at least keeping the correct behavior in their faces at every available opportunity might help dissuade people from getting retrained by aggressive drivers (and might give a few hints to drivers in general about how their risky moves affect other drivers).Another Canadian driver and buddyd157 Thank this. -
Not yet it isn’t. They’re still gathering evidence and from my understanding there may be some camera footage from one or more of the witnesses and vehicles involved.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
