Funny story…I was delivering to a bridge that doesn’t exist anymore. I had 2 different contact numbers and they both just went to voicemail (no cell signal at the site) I was just trying to verify that I would end up on the right side of the nonexistent bridge. Someone finally gets back to me and confirms that I was coming the the right way. I tell them I’d be there in 20 minutes…and then I come to a railroad overpass that’s only 12’ and my truck is at least 13’!!
So I turn on the navigation that’s in the truck…ended up doing at least a 20 mile detour and wound up on the wrong side of the bridge :)
I can usually get away with just google maps and only use the truck navigation occasionally…I should’ve known better…
So besides ending up on the wrong side, I had to back up about a half mile to get turned around so I could back in the half mile again to get unloaded.
Drove 180 miles just in Vermont with all but about 40 of them on 2 lane roads…

I had to work for it this week. 6 loads, 18 deliveries & 2100 miles. Beer sure tastes good after that. upload_2023-11-17_20-15-12.jpeg

Those 2 lanes in VT aren’t for wheel holders. I remember running 4 or 5 one winter with Melton & putting it on my do not return to list.

Forty years ago I worked for a linoleum and carpet distributor. About the only thing required to be a “dealer” was to purchase the sample kits to show your customer. So there were lots of flooring installers who were considered dealers and we would deliver to their house…
Used to do an overnight trip all over Vermont and and a little bit into NH, mostly 2 lane roads…
Back in the day I probably knew about that low bridge that I encountered yesterday…
