    Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I have been driving solo for just short of 5 years. I love what I do, despite some of the companies that I have worked for.

I have been trying to get in the door with Crete for a while, and tomorrow morning, I finally get an opportunity. I have an interview with the Ottawa, IL terminal manager.
I have my fingers crossed. If anyone can send some positive thoughts or prayers my way, it would be most appreciated.
Before I got into truck driving, I worked in the civil service field. I have been a firefighter/paramedic and a cop. When people interview for those jobs they sit in front of a panel, usually 5 or more people. That can be a nerve racking experience, and I have been through a few. However, I am far more nervous about this interview. I am sure I will do fine, but I will be losing some sleep tonight.
Normally I am not this high strung, but this interview is VERY important for my family and me. We have been hit hard by the economic catastrophe. I lost my last job because I would not drive in violation of HOS with paperless logging and onboard GPS attached to the logging system. You can look for more information about that when I post it in the Company DAC about a company called Dedicated Logistics, Inc.
Anyways, since I learned that Crete was listed as one of the top 10 companies to work for in an industry magazine, and all of the research I have done, I have had my sights set on them.
I will post a follow up or 3 here and let everyone know how it works out.

Keep the rubber on the road and the shiny parts in the sun.

Well, my interview went great! They are finishing processing my paperwork, and they will contact me by this coming Monday to let me know when to report for the first part of orientation.
The only downside is that because I spent almost all of my time with a small company, I have to go through 3 weeks (maximum, it could be as short as a few days) with a trainer. They cited their reasons as follows:

    1. Small company with no official safety department.
    2. A lapse in communication has Crete believing that I ran in only 5 states, and mostly only 2. (The fact is that I ran in 11 states, most of my deliveries where within 2 states of the p/u location.)
    3. No qualcomm experience.

It is a downer, I was hoping to get into a truck and go, but there is nothing wrong with taking time with a trainer. There are a great many things that I can learn, and I will use that time to glean as much information as I can. I am a bit nervous about it though. I have never had to run with a trainer. I have been a trainer, but any trainee that was with me was only there for 1 or 2 loads, just so they could get the gist of the required paperwork and procedures for the particular account. I am concerned that I will be paired with someone that I am not compatible with and the tension will harm my ability to gather information. Either way, I will make the best of it.
I will start a new thread and offer updates as frequently as I can about my progress. I am an up front and honest person. I will give a "no holds barred" account of my time with Crete.
I am looking forward to getting my start, and sharing my experiences with you all.
