Well ####. I believe the heater on my APU crapped out.

 

Try to reset the Apu turn it off and back on again if it doesn't work uh-oh time for a visit to the shop.

 

Does the A/C work? If it doesn't it could be the big fuse outside in the unit's case

 

Yes the A/C works. Heat on low blows no hot air whatsoever. When I turn it to high, it blows lukewarm at best. I checked the coolant because I had to add half a gallon yesterday before I left town, but it’s still at the same level.

 

They don't use coolant to heat they use a heat pump at least my carrier didn't in the Peterbilt I had.

 

Definitely an issue then, on low it's just the heat pump, on high it adds the heat strips. If neither puts out hot air, and it isn't single digits outside then there is an issue.

 

When do we use anti-gel in the fuel tanks? Low for the area that I’m shutting down at is around 20 degrees. I’ll be idling the truck all night though for aforementioned reasons.

 

I never had to use anti-gel in my Magnum truck. Tank heaters were supposedly installed in them and they also encouraged the use of #1 diesel during the winter months.

 

You can use some at That temp.. run the truck after you put some in so it goes thru the fuel system and whatnot..

 

Idk if FCC has tank heaters I'm sure they do, but they give you bottles of that stuff every service in the winter it is recommended to run to keep it from gelling up especially like if you run into south Dakota when it's below zero or Wyoming. Another example is like I just got fuel in south Carolina the fuel is not treated looks just like vegetable oil so if I am going to be below 20 I need anti gel in my fuel system. If you fuel up north the fuel does has some treatment which helps but it's safer to use the anti gel cheap insurance to protect the system.
