Why do many carriers have "waiting lists" for driving positions?

I remember watching a video of a Transam driver getting stuck at a drive through for a Burger King or Taco Bell or some class of food. The first thought I had is the poor guy needed a few sandwiches. He really looked like he was very hungry.

My company in particular wants certain spec trucks, it starts with being a Kenworth T680 with a Cummins X15. Upper management has told me that the only brands that have they have not had issues with to date have been KW and International, they have had all sorts of issues getting support from Volvo and Freightliner in the past to the point that they do not want to purchase any more of those brand trucks or affiliated brands such as Mack or Western Star.

Wow. Trucks that are known for their down time.
I have spent more time in shops with the ProStar/LT than any other.

Day cab stuff.. 3/4 of the companies have waiting lists and 1/4 are small junk fleets who basically ignore anything from the internet and pay garbage. I don't touch LTL megas so don't know about those; I wouldn't work at ABF or UPS for 300k a year...

By the way I got day cab at Cargo Transporters which is better than all the companies I applied for that were a PITA

Is this because of the Navistar engine or is the whole platform problematic?

Nothing but the truth here. #### near impossible to get recruiters to pick up the phone.

A lot of the recruiters were laid off from trucking companies and from recruiting firms themselves.
I heard a rumor that a lot of them are doing telephone soliciting for health plans and insurance companies that have bases in Nigeria but nobody here has ever heard of. :(
