I'd rather not say for personal reasons GH. I am not a fan of spreading my personal business for the world to see; especially when it comes to my very own family. I hope you understand. At the end of my counseling commitment, I might try but for now that is out of the question.

Well I found out today that I need a refresher from Roadmaster because my shifting is not up too par. Despite our differences my dad gave me enthusiasm and understood why. I drove an automatic and got spoiled. There are perks to each:
Manual: Control speed on grades and gives you a workout more upsides to this than a automatic.
Automatic (aka Autoshift and Ultrashift): No clutch, easier to driver for a student as he can focus on the road more. Only downside: you are not in control of speed when going down grades.
After talking with my former boss, we are on better terms. Everytime I talk I apologize about what happened. He is a very understanding individual; wait that barely describes him. He was too patient and the nicest boss who never discriminated against me. He gave me accommodations and gave me space in the truck. By this I mean he sat in the sleeper and coordinated our routes, or slept. If I needed help, I gave the airhorn a toot provided there was no traffic or asked for help.
He did send me my fianl pay check and sent me my camera and has mailed me letters saying where hes been and the routes.

KH what problems did you have with the ultrashift going down a grade with the speed? I can't speak for the auto shift trans, but I drove an ultra shift for a little over a year and loved it (except for the learnig curve of backing up a little faster than normal). I never had any problems holding speed going down grade, I would just lock it in manual and it would stay in the gear selected (unless of course you hit the redline, they will up shift to avoid engine damage from over rev). Just curious what probelms you were having..may be able to offer help for the future. Best of luck.

I have an Autoshift and have plenty of control of my downhill speed..
I use the Jake, if that doesn't give me the desired results I either put the tranny in Manual or Low. In the low setting the transmission will not upshift, it will stay in the current gear or look for a lower gear..
In Manual, well that's obvious.. I pick the gear I want and leave it there..JustSonny Thanks this. -
I did have jakes on but started out too high of speed. I got it down pat quickly. I set the jakes on high and leave it there. I apply brakes every 10sec for three sec.

I was learning but all greenhorns should know to go at a reduced speed for their first time when attempting to go down a 5% greater grade.
KHJustSonny Thanks this. -
In fact, anyone with experience with an Autoshift will have control of their downhill speed, therefore eliminating any downside as you see it... -
It doesn't matter what kind of transmission you have if you drop off a 5% hill too fast you are going to have problems.
