If you are in business for yourself, you control your miles. You have to be assertive! I have had two sit down meetings with owner op, dm. etc, all when miles were getting to low. Now with CSA2010 they want the safest drivers. I am on the phone, or I ask my wife tos call sometimes, she is the business mind, she handles the money anyway very well I might add. We are aware that one week might be low, but usually next weeks miles make up for it. I am always sending message on qual com, they know it is in the computer I want to be preset. I know where I am going sometimes for the week, but I run it that way. The cabs course teaches you are responsible for your miles. True we do not know about all loads, but in the computer you can see the brokers loads at Central right online. Sometimes you may be in a area of say -18 loads, deadhead, or use it to another advantage, and keep communicating professionally.:yes2557:

as a lease operator you are not a fleet driver. you have to be on the phone, and on the qualcom and assertive and diligent to get your miles. You are in control, my wife also has stationary with our business name on it now, and commicates in writing via email. we have anything Dand everything in writing. I am not saying it is not hard. It is, any business you start with such expenses is a challenge. I only had 15 days off all last year! It takes sacrifice, and constant learning, and communication! You are in business, keep records, diaries, anything, and when you go in a meeting you have what you need. Fire your DM IF YOU HAVE TO. I talked to a guy who has leased with them and says he has fired 5 DMS in his full career. He has been with them a long time. Don't take any thing less than you need to be successful, if you fail they will only say it was your failure. They will blame the driver for everything, they tried that on my wife when my miles dropped, saying communication was the problem so she printed out my reviews and brought those in and asked why my reviews for all excellent on that note. She was a paralegal in her past, and second in command Manager of a huge retail store. She is a awesome business manager, I have taught her a lot about trucking and she has taught me a lot too.

Was in a really bad mood that day!!! Had one after another that day asking me how to do things as simply as how to run the qual com, all from different locations! I don't know what the school is teaching or if the student is sleeping, and not listening. I did not go to school at Central! I went to a private trucking school.

it takes a long time and lots of practice to downshit. some people pick up pretty quick. others will take years to get the hang of it. downshifting is harder to learn then upshifting.

there are others that were leasers that could give a better idea. but my guess is the trainer doesn't want to take a chance on a 100,000 repair bill when he leaves the company. as others have had some pretty hefty bills.

tell your hubby to just ask for another trainer. and let the dude quit right now. no one should have to put up with 4 weeks with a arsehole trainer.

God no where to park in the midwest! Truckstops all full, rest stops all full, Nebraska puts no parking signs on the rest area entrance and exits. Iowa has no shoulder on the entrances and exits.

On another note, weekend dispatch backed my 1600 mile load with a 1k mile load.

A new tranny instaled is around 13 grand. Allot less if you shop around.
There are no 30k repairs. That is more than some of the older lease trucks are worth. Maybe 30k if it is wrecked bad I guess, but not for mechanical issues.

I am Happy that the Central Lease is working out for you!!!

Both my Fiance and I did the Cabs Business Course yes it was helpful but it really didn't help the lack of miles, you shouldn't have to be on the phone half the day begging for a load, you shouldn't have to send in 30 messages begging to get Authorisation to drop a load early.

Yes we looked at the Central load boards all the time and but when we mentioned those loads we were told they were brokered loads.

I talked to another L/O Friend yesterday and he was telling me that another lease truck is being turned in this week, from the Coors dedicated Fleet.

Central have no idea how to keep a truck moving all they care about is getting the students through the CDL Mill as quickly as possible so they can get some more money from Uncle Sam.

I hope your still posting at the end of your Lease and let us know you were able to buy your Truck from Central I would be the first to congratulate you:yes2557:
