I’ve searched everywhere and talked to my insurance company. The only option that I was told is I’ll have to start my own by sitting for 21 days until it goes active. 21 days is a long time to not make money. I’m paying almost $4k a month by leasing to my friend’s MC. Any advice or suggestions?

I believe you can fill out all the paperwork and send it in and work for the company you are leased to. Not sure why you could not work for that company until your MC is active. You may have to pay extra on insurance depending on how it is set up with the leasing company.

Just paperwork and insurance. You obviously can't run your numbers while lease but keep it in ur back pocket till you want to go on ur own

You are asking the wrong questions.
Should be to insurance company. (If i were to get authority, what will it cost?)

they should quote, may be a few days, if not find another.

Get authority set up, you will just be wasting money if you get insurance right then anyway.
It’ll take 4-6 weeks for authority to go active, keep eyes open, they’ll inform you when all you need is to have insurance company send them the proof.

Save about $2500 for insurance you so t need at the time.

Note: people WILL call and use scare tactics to get you to get the insurance you can’t use, plus (DoT Compliance, a HUGE scam and waste of time and money wil send mail plus email trying to act as if they’re the DOT and saying they’ll fine you X amount if you don’t do this/that, call this 800 number.

    (I read everything.)
    Trash it.
read the bottom small print it’ll say (We are not with dept of transportation)

in a print smaller than that, so they can adam and use scare tactics for business.

You can have your own authority and run under another number as long as you have the correct D.O.T number on the side of your truck. There is no law against having to cancel your authority if you lease onto another carrier. You can’t book loads under your numbers and run it through his authority. If you are leased onto a carrier that is pulling off the load boards and doesn’t have direct contracted freight. I highly recommend getting your own authority. It’s not hard to maintain at all. Pay your quarterly IFTA taxes, tag once a year buy into a drug testing program. Run as close to legal as possible until after your new entrant inspection and you’ll be off to the races. No need in giving away $4000 a month unless your friend has some really good paying contracts. $4000 a month would pay everything but my salary. That number is insanely high.

But you say your insurance company wants you to sit 21 days.
That’s wrong and tells me your agent isn’t… proficient in trucking insurance.

You can file for authority without your own insurance.
And can pull under someone else banner until your notified about a month later to get your insurance.

Then you pull their signs and put yours on, tag truck through your company name.

    I know it’s
    You are correct.
I’m just trying to go about it the smart way. Then I’m hearing brokers won’t work with me until 90days. So why do I do until then?
