Considering working for Knightmare transportation? Read this first.

Remember, if you quit within 90 days, they will CHARGE you so ask first.

 

I am interested only in answering specific questions, not spilling my guts here.

Office worker pay: $40K. Substantially less than agreed on. Raises are difficult to attain as they rely on your review, unfortuantely they have no interest in setting up your review so you may have to wait 6 months to a year AFTER your review is due, IF you stay that long. A large percentage do not.

Boogey man stories? They tell you that you need to drive 2500 miles per week which in most cases is no problem. However it is up to your driver manager whether he wants to give you that many miles. The ones I worked with gave their favorite drivers 3000+ miles while others got 2000 or less. It has nothing to do with your personal ability and has everything to do with your ### kissing ability. NEVER argue with a dispatcher or you will be screwed and left to sit for days without a dispatch without layover pay while they give miles to someone else. I have seen this more times than I can count. Think you're being punished? You are.

You will not get paid for extra work unless you ask and you need to ask immediately or forget it and there is still no guarantee you'll get it. If you wait until the next day, you will probably not get paid.

You will be lied to, that's a fact. In orientation, by dispatch, by the shop.

Trucker dave, I have not read your stories, I just found this forum when I quit.

If you think it will be different for you, remember, there is a 300% turnover rate for drivers so your chance of lasting any length of time is slim. Term reports are e-mailed out daily listing anywhere from 12 to 24 terminations daily.

When you go to quit, don't bother with a 2 week notice, they will let you go immediately when you give notice. And if you quit within 90 days, they will charge you for your orientation, lunches, dot exam etc.

Make sure you complete an interchange and KEEP A COPY. Any damage found will be charged against you when you turn in the truck unless YOU can provide a copy of the interchange. Funny how they manage to lose so many interchanges.

If they want to fire you, LET THEM! They will tell you that if they fire you, you'll never get another driving job so they want you to quit. This has nothing to do with getting another driving job but has everything to do with YOU COLLECTING UNEMPLOYMENT. If you quit, you do not get unemployment. They tried 3 times to get one driver to quit but he wouldn't and they even got quite nasty about it.
