Oh certainly. But your company doesn't have access to that without a warrant... Unless you willingly install that app!

But that's not what you said. You said

One would assume you mean ANY AND ALL apps on your phone, not just ones that your employer makes you install. And my point is it doesn't take any apps at all to spy on you. You're being watched by big brother at all times.

I actually watched a TV program not long ago where someone was killed and their body left in a remote area and the police got a search warrant to subpoena all carriers in that area to give them the personal ID's of everyone who was in that area around that time, and since they didn't know exactly when the body was put there, it was plus or minus several hours. They also had no proof the killer even had a phone with them, so there is no proof this blanket search for personal data would or even COULD give them the killers name. Those kinds of blanket subpoenas for tracking data are quickly becoming a privacy issue. You could have been jogging by 5 minutes before they were killed and you get tied into this murder investigation. It's nuts.

I said that apps get the full amount of information that your phone gathers if you're dumb enough to install them. *shrug*

And that is exactly my point. You don't have to install apps to be tracked. All you have to do is turn your phone on. Flip phones can be tracked and they can't even accept apps.

You have to install an app to be tracked by a commercial entity or business.

The government or police agencies can track you regardless.

Yes, but again, that's not what you originally said. You did not say "You have to install apps in order for your trucking company to track you." I already quoted what you said. The way you said it, you made it sound like people must install apps on their phones to be tracked. That is not true. The gov't can track you no matter what. Only private companies need you to install apps. That means nothing. You are tracked as soon as you turn your phone on.

And if you have a google email address, you don't have to install anything and they will track you. So again, you don't need to install anything to be tracked by a business like Google.

A lot of people don't realize that they don't need to install anything and their every move is being tracked and recorded by their cell provider.

I would never install tracking aps on my phone and have told my company this. We use Samsara and they can send the shipper or broker a link to track my truck in real time using my Samsara tablet. I have no problems with that. But my PERSONAL PHONE? Oh hell no.
