Happy New Year. My BOLs doesn’t have any BOL Number at all. For the load info for my ELDs I entered the trailer number. I am not sure if this is correct or if I should just make one up and write it on the BOLs and then enter that number as the load info.

When I was working in recycle, I'd pick up plastic from junk yards or trash haulers etc that weren't used to shipping things out. They didn't have BOLs, so I kept some blank generic BOLs with me they could fill out. If they didn't write a number on there, I'd just write something on it.
You gotta have a BOL number on your log to correspond with the BOL for DOT on road side & audit inspections etc.4wayflashers and tscottme Thank this. -
Is it a hazmat load?
If not don’t worry about it. Jut make sure the trailer numbers match.4wayflashers Thanks this. -
I think the law say if no BOL or shipping number you’re supposed to put what is actually in the trailer and the shipper name. You can also just make up some random number. When you went back in shipper before leaving the shipper hand write the correct number for you.
4wayflashers and Grumppy Thank this. -
Does your company assign load numbers or trip numbers to each load? If so that’s what I’d put into your log and I’d also write it on the BOL. Or you could enter the shipper and commodity as stated above.kylefitzy, 4wayflashers and tscottme Thank this.

That’s how I do it. Trip number gets written on every BOL, there’s or ours if I have to make my own.4wayflashers Thanks this.

Thanks for all the replies. Seems I can write the number myself. In the future I think I will use the load date when this happens.
