Reread that again. I was thinking structural rating manufacturers use.
Gvw rating would be combined trailer and load.
Canada is good for checking also. They really love checking pickups pulling trailers.

That's what I thought as well, since weight is shared between tractor and trailer axle group.
If done correctly, how does adding neck or a booster reduce capacity? I understand steels, meaning their specs such as moments, yield, tensile, grade etc. and effects it can have. If anything, there needs to be flex, again of done correctly as per manufacturer recommendation. -
I stand by what I said but it matters not at all to me one way or the other.

This is the tag n my 55 ton trailer
134k is not what it is rated for -
I could give 2 schits as well.
-
55ton on the deck plus empty wt would be awfully close to 134k.
That stretch of yours is probably well over 24 empty.
But the standard cookie cutter neck and ars end Fontaine uses on the 55 ton trailers would be bang on. -
@Rontonio
I meant to say that I re read that again. You are right. GVW is the max no matter what on the main trailer.
I was talking about -
yes it would but I think that it means the actual capacity is under 100k as a bare 3 axle (given an actual empty weight of near 28k). To actually see the full 110k a 4th axle would be necessary. This doesn’t change the rated capacity on the bottom of the tag at 110k in 16’ closed and 1110k in 50’ 2 point loaded 1’ from both ends.
What I was trying to get at for the OP is the GVW on the tag and the actual weight rating published by the manufacturer are different concepts. -
manufacturers "load rating".

don’t sweat it - I am just old and tired and cranky today. Since I am headed to the snow and I hate the snow….
