I completely agree with your statement. I have found that when I return from deployments, my marriage is stronger than it was before I left. And, this has happened a couple of times. My first daughter, I missed everything from the birth to her first birth-day. When I first saw her she was a little over a year old. So, I can tell you from experience that it can be done, it is not always easy, and you will always miss your loved ones, it makes coming home that much sweeter.

Maybe my comments were mis understood earlier in the post. I did'nt say that you cound'nt have a loving and meaningful relationship with your mate by driving OTR, what I said was that by not being there with them on a daily basis does and will put alot of strain on your relationships with loved ones. If being away from your husband or wife was better than being with them, than we would'nt live with our spouses. Given a choice to be with or without our spouses on a daily basis, I pretty sure that most would rather be with them than without them. I've been blessed to have a good wife who does all of the things that I mentioned above but I'm not going to sit here and tell you that missing out on some special moments in my familys life has made things better. I was blessed to be able to see both of my children born and can honestly say that they were the most meaningful and cherished days of my life. I would'nt have missed them for anything. No amount of pictures, video or film could have captured the feelings that I had on those days. Times like that can never be replaced. We all know that relationships with our significant others can be rocky to say the least on a good day, let alone being gone or awol for days on end and anyone who tells you different is full of it.

Let me add, I also have no life....

That leads me to the conclusion that I would be perfect for this job!

I only meant that in a positive way towards trucking and my life in particular, no offense meant towards anyone else...
