Got unloaded a day early and next load don’t pick up until tomorrow morning in north vegas. Put in for layover but not sure if it is going to be paid because Im still owed three days layover and 40 dollars detention on four previous loads that never got paid. Honestly getting fed up with it. Not my problem there is no freight or they are being uber picky and restrictive on what they will haul for. Heck, always give advance notice when Ill arrive if going to be early and still wait until after empty call is sent before even looking. I didn’t sign anything nor did I agree on anything saying Id sit for no pay.

    Today's excitement:

Cruising down US-460 after dropping a trailer in Suffolk. Was about 30 minutes from the yard when a wild turkey flew out of the trees and introduced itself to my windshield. Fortunately, it was square center of the windshield and didn't really obscure my field of vision. At least, not to the point where I would've felt unsafe driving the thing. View forward was 98% of normal. So I just kept on driving until I got to the yard.

We contract out our windshield repair, and they don't work on the weekends. So the soonest it'll get fixed is Monday. It's currently parked in one of the repair bays just in case it rains or snows between now and then.

And what does the company do about your pants and underwear in a situation like this? Do they provide you a new pair up front, or is it a “turn in receipt for reimbursement” type situation?

Fortunately, I had about a second's worth of warning, so my underpants emerged unscathed. I distinctly recall thinking "Hey, that's a wild turkey. Don't see them too oft--CRAP."

That is crazy! Glad you’re okay. Those things can be freaking huge! A bunch of years ago when I was still OTR at Abilene, I was headed up 460 to the yard and had a bird hit my drivers side window just right and shattered it. Scared the beejeesus out of me and covered me in glass. I was picking it out of my hair for days. I don’t think I ever got it out of all the nooks and crannies of the truck.

Yeah, I dusted the floorboards pretty thoroughly with a whisk broom, and then followed that up with blasts from the air compressor. Really don't want to wind up with glass in my feet a week from now.

Still a bunch of glass on the dashboard, but I'm hoping that the windshield contractors will take care of that.

    jarhead0311 and motocross25 Thank this.

Accidentally filled my tanks this morning and was 240 lbs over gross. Figured Id burn off enough between Amarillo and the OK scales, thankfully I was correct as the scale master spoke over the loud speaker to let me know I weighed 79,960 lbs and didn’t have much room left. Deliver in Bolingbrook tomorrow then I wager they will have me drop this reefer in New Castle.
