    You had me sweating for minute! I went and checked the website again, and it turns out that the a2a I got IS a bar and plate. I knew I was a sucker for a good sales pitch for a reason! Check it out.

    $680 shipped to my shop, and that's new, no core.

    Mr. Cowboy Thanks this.

    No, I asked them about that, and told them I was planning on upgrading my power a lot eventually, like maybe up to 750+hp and 45+psi. They said they could make me a bigger one, but that this one would handle it just fine, that it's the same size cooler they sell for the 625 Acert, which I'm sure moves a lot of air. We'll see. I was initially thinking about having the oem cooler repaired and saving my money for a bigger cooler later on, but the truck has almost 1.6million on it, I figured if I had one leak patched another one would surely pop up. It's not all that bad yet, I'm still driving it, I just have to keep the rpm above 1600 when I'm on a hard pull to keep the egt down. It's a pretty big cooler anyway, lots of surface area. I think the grill on this thing is bigger than a 379 or W9.

    Wow! thats cheap! It is a bar and plate design... couldn't go wrong there. I would have just went with a little larger core then stock though. Theres normally a bit of room with the stock tanks for larger core. Just save you the money later but it might not be necesary anyways.

    Now that I think about it, I see their point. The only thing that will increase air flow is changing displacement or rpm. Even though more boost sucks in a larger quantity of air it's going to increase the density more than volume. The intake is only so big anyhow. As long as the CAC is big enough to provide ample cooling it's probably going to be fine. I know if you go way oversized on a CAC you can actually hurt performance with too much volume.

    I really need to make me some adapters to check mine for leaks. It's OEM with ~850k on it.

    I made myself a deal like this http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=669 actually you can get everything you need from Home Depot. I went a little further and added an extra in line shut off valve to mine. That way you can further fine tune the psi being added or shut it off. I couldn't believe all the little tiny leaks I found on mine once I started adding a little soapy water.

    Mr. Cowboy and josh.c Thank this.

    Kansas, this experience has made me realize how handy that tool would be, I'd like to check mine periodically in the future just to see if I have a leak starting.

    I'm planning on making one, just haven't gotten to it. You know how that goes. I figure some 3" pvc cap one piece and put the fittings in the other for a gauge and valve. Then it could be used to test the CAC or just an individual coupler.

    It could come in really handy for finding coolant leaks too, you could just buy whatever size pvc you need for the job.

    What is the trick to getting Detroit Radiator to drop the price a little?
    Quoted for Pete 385 w/C12 was
    $1175 for four row Rad
    $ 760 for Power Max CAC
    $ 165 for condensor
    No shipping or sales tax, so am kind of wondering if that is part of the deal?

    I like the fact that everything Detroit is selling is suppose to be mfg'd here, where as others are ordering stuff from China.

    Also called Fleet Air down in AL. & they are getting some numbers together. Will post 'em when I get 'em.
