I-12 needs to be extended around Baton Rouge. No matter what time I leave Houston I always wind up stuck in a jam at that bridge in Baton Rouge.
Plan approved for Louisiana I-10 bridge includes a hefty toll for truckers

Actually only 6 miles more, or 1 gallon of fuel. $3.99(fuel) vs $8.25(toll).TheLoadOut Thanks this.

Hefty toll bill? It's 8 dollars and change with a toll tag and 12 and change without. Thats not expensive at all. Now if you you're talking about running the Pennsylvania Turnpike, or the combination of the Thruway in New York and the Massachusetts Turnpike, your spending aerious money then. I get it, but the coat of this toll is chump change compared to the northeast. Louisiana has incredibly beat up infrastructure. It's long overdue.

Give it a couple years. Thing about politicians and bureaucrats is they always find something else they need more money for and they will be tapping into it sooner than later and saying they need to raise more and more by raising that cost and then adding tolls in other places. Do you really think all those others you mentioned started out at rediculous costs ?TheLoadOut Thanks this.

What your saying is true... at least generally speaking. I was reading up on the Tollway 8 around Houston a while back. They done basically the same thing. They asked the tax payers for the opportunity to cash in some bond I think, to build TW 8 and it would be paid off in 20 years or something & the tolls would be reduced if I remember right. After 20 years, they left the tolls at the regular price stating, they needed the money for something.
I'm sure this is going to eventually become a standard here just like Texas, Oklahoma & some other places now. But as long as they build good roads, I'm pretty much ok with it.
We need a loop around Monroe/West Monroe in the worst way. They've been kicking that idea around for probably 30 years.... along with a 4th bridge & everyone has a different idea on where it should be & no one can agree where, so it never gets done.
I'm 64 years old... I'll probably never see a 4th bridge or a loop around the cities.TheLoadOut and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Not at all, but of all the toll roads I've ran over the years, PA has raised their prices at a faster rate than any other place. I hope it don't happen, but like you said, get the right person in power and boom..more increases.
