I was at the cat dealer in Jan 2024 getting some parts for my 3406 they had one of these crates on the floor. 46k for the engine and a 22k core charge. Full warranty as well.

 

Yes and they actually give you some credit to do so. For instance they would take my old C model for core on anything 5EK and up. As stated however going backwards is a complete deal breaker

 

They also said its all new castings for parts ie block, crank. Etc. completely new engine. Not really bad price at 46k. What’s does a brand new x15 cost?? Or dd15?

 

The CAT new content engine is actually just guaranteed to be new block, crank and head. It will have reman cylinder packs as well as injectors, rocker shafts, rocker arms etc. I know several guys that have one, all had CAT put them in. One got a room and waited in KC it went that fast. None have had any issues yet.


The only way to get what you truly want is build it or spec it new. However it gets expensive especially when cross breeding pieces
