No way I'd put a used APU on a 600k truck.
No way Id pay 14k for a new APU on a used truck, or a new truck for that matter.
Only way I'd even own an APU again is if I bought a USED truck that already had an APU on it. IMO this is the only way to get a deal on an APU.
They are all trouble to some degree. All of them. There are no exceptions.
USED APU worth it for a used truck?

so true. id'e be happy running a genny and a portable ac unit and a space heater. best thing is if it breaks it won't cost you an arm and a leg to fix it. and with that many miles on the truck is the OP going to keep it or get rid of it???Last edited: Feb 24, 2024

That is a phenomenal value for what you get. ^^^ I just looked up the specs. 3.4 gallon fuel tank runs 18 hours at 25% load and with that much power you aren't going to be running nearly full load running a small mini split or air conditioner. More like 30-40% load tops.
This mated with a cheap diesel heater and a mini split on a rig is a great idea, all for about $2500 vs. $14k for an APU? I don't see how it's even a question.Siinman Thanks this. -
Or better yet bypass the bunk heater for one of these and or a heated blanket.
Been running like this for years. I run a 2300 watt unit on the catwalk on less than a gallon of fuel a night. Every night,,, for the last 5 years.
Got an under bunk ac unit for the summer. Same 1 gallon a night… every single night

This is how mine is set up. Slide the catwalk as far forward as possible. Move the hitch all the way back then turn the truck and move A LITTLE, check the clearance, move again and check do this very slowly and keep checking until you know it won't hit.Old_n_gray Thanks this.

My 3,500 predator (starting watts) full load 2,800 watts, my 5,500 btu portable ac pulls 750ish watts. That's a 27% load. The 2gl tank will run it for about 11hr... 10hr south of I-10 in the summer

I am thinking of an electric blanket to. Though every one I bought had timers on em so you don't kill yourself lmao

Snug as a bug in a rug… I put it on the mattress under the sheet. The new ones are pretty safe I think? -
mini split dont last they rattle apart.
You can skip the generator and put in a lithium bank for way less.
